Neither civil authorities nor others will take the warnings of Christians seriously regarding threats to religious freedom if Christians develop the reputation of spreading lies, fabrications, and exaggerations relative to such threats. Crying “Wolf!” for little or no reason may excite a political constituency, but it erodes the very credibility needed when genuine threats arise and warnings are raised concerning them.
