In his final prayer for Israel, King David revealed a core principle of Biblical righteousness by faith and the ultimate reason for the giving of thanks:

”But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of Thee, and of Thine own have we given Thee” (I Chron. 29:14).

Losing the truth in a secular context is devastating enough; losing it in the spiritual realm means the loss of eternity itself.

The coming months and years will demand more from the striving faithful in the Seventh-day Adventist Church than has ever been demanded from the consecrated of any era. But the keeping power of our God will more than equal the intensity of the conflict.

If religion is understood as a system in which right and wrong are objectively spelled out, a system in which wholehearted, divinely-empowered conformity to the right and wholehearted, divinely-empowered rejection of the wrong is held to be the imperative determiner of one’s ultimate destiny, then the God of the Bible is indeed a religious God, not an open-ended, postmodern accommodator of everyone’s chosen ways.
