This past Tuesday, October 22, 2019, marked the passing of the 175th year of the investigative judgment (Dan. 7:9-14; 8:14). Born from the ashes and tears of the Great Disappointment, this doctrine embodies both the unique contribution of Seventh-day Adventism to Christian theology, as well as the most basic rationale for the existence of the Adventist faith and movement. It is time we paused for a moment to consider both the Biblical and personal imperatives of this oft-embattled yet still enduring centerpiece of the Seventh-day Adventist witness to the world.
