The devil tempts people to take many directions. God will, however, have people who recognize their great need of His transforming power in their lives; who will fall on their knees and humble themselves before the Lord and His Word; who accept the last-day message of hope and warning they are asked to proclaim; who show dignity and respect to all people, reflecting their love for the Master and His transforming work in their lives as they submit to revival and reformation.

While praying for His disciples (and for us), Christ indicated the power of the Word when He stated, “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth” (John 17:17). In a world in which truth is considered relative, based upon one’s own lived experience, Christ boldly proclaims that His Word— the Bible—is solid, unchangeable truth.

The three angels’ messages are the embodiment of revival and reformation, reviving hope in our hearts and reformation in our lives. As we reach out to a hurting world, ministering to many needs today through Total Member Involvement, let us, as Jesus did, always keep the eternal in view, realizing that only He can regenerate hearts.

“’When the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.’ Christ is waiting with longing desire for the manifestation of Himself in His church. When the character of Christ shall be perfectly reproduced in His people, then He will come to claim them as His own” (Ellen G. White, Christ’s Object Lessons, p. 69).

As Seventh-day Adventists, we stand together worldwide in condemning racism, bigotry, hatred, prejudice, and violence in all of its myriad forms. We know that God is a God of justice, who sees and knows all, and we look to Him to fulfill His Word when He says, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay” (Romans 12:19).

My brothers and sisters, keep your eyes focused upon Jesus and eternal things! Let us remember that this storm, this crisis, is temporary. As this storm subsides, I believe there will be an unprecedented opportunity to share our faith in ways we have never been able to do before. People are longing for answers the world cannot give. They are looking for peace, hope, and security that only God can provide.

Let us never forget how God has led us, His current guidance, and His future leading.  God never changes, and neither does His truth, as we come closer to Christ’s soon appearing.
