World Church Affirmation Sabbath is Going Forward

The fall event of World Church Affirmation Sabbath took place on September 22, 2018, in churches across the North American Division.

WCAS' stated purpose is support of the beliefs, governing processes, and voted policies of the worldwide Seventh-day Adventist Church at all levels. WCAS events occurred in several states.

I attended the program at Stateline Seventh-day Adventist Church, in Milton-Freewater, Oregon. Our site had about 100 people attending.  Other sites reported between 33 to 160 participants.

The general theme for this World Church Affirmation Sabbath (WCAS) was “Who Shall Be Able to Stand?” and the event topics presented were:

  1. Standing by a Purpose True

  2. Warnings and Promises

  3. When Michael Stands up

It was one of the most outstanding WCAS events I have attended, both encouraging and inspiring.  There were three lay speakers. What? No big names to draw a crowd?  The fact is that WCAS uses lay speakers because it is crucial for the laity to become involved and active in all aspects of Seventh-day Adventism.

The book of Acts demonstrates that the laity must be active in presenting the message and mission, active in methods of church governance and in support of leadership.  WCAS is a lay-led organization seeking to “press together” for positive, Biblical change in collaboration with like-minded Seventh-day Adventists. We believe that, “knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed,” Romans 13:11 (emphasis mine).

If you have felt you are all alone, don’t you believe it!  There are loyal lay members all across the North American Division who want to network with you. Together, we find courage to be faithful as we prepare for the Lord’s soon return.  Together, we stand in support of the God-inspired organizational structure that comprises the Seventh-day Adventist Church. We “press together” and march forward in Christ's strength, assisting the weaker members along the way. Does your church and Conference need encouragement? Get involved in WCAS.  You will not regret it.

May God’s church go forward.  “Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen,” Ephesians 3:21 (emphasis mine).
