What God has inspired must take precedence over all other spiritual writings.  Once our minds are saturated with the former, we can peruse the latter with an alertness that enables us to see more clearly the difference between right and wrong, truth and error, even when the difference is subtle.

A recent article in a prominent denominational outlet challenges certain features of the classic Adventist construct known in recent times as Last Generation Theology. Are these challenges credible?

Whatever fears may ravage human hearts in these tumultuous times, those adhering to Holy Scripture can face the coming year with confidence.  God is still in control.  And until He has a people prepared to deliver His final warning, His mercy will continue to linger and the door of probation stay open.

A recent controversy over a holiday display in Iowa’s state Capitol should cause Christians to pose the ultimate question to our own selves: Regardless of our profession, do we in fact belong to the synagogue of Satan?

Neither popular culture, traditional values, formal scholarship, spiritual fads, nor one’s preferred experiential comfort level can carry any weight with the true Christian, in particular those called to leadership.  As with King Zedekiah of old, despite his persistent disobedience to the prophetic voice, the inquiry of all true leaders in God’s church must be, “Is there any word from the Lord?” (Jer. 37:17).

Time has lingered through Inquisition and genocide, racial animus and economic injustice, gulags and global warming, calamities natural and unnatural, because the ultimate contrast between the two contending kingdoms in God’s universe remains to be demonstrated, ensuring once and for all the just and final extinction of rebels and rebellion.

A new appeal to reimagine the role of Ellen White in the church perpetuates the misunderstanding rampant among so-called “progressive” Adventists that it is possible to affirm one’s possession of the prophetic gift while simultaneously reserving the right to differ with a prophet’s counsel. But the Bible’s depiction of the gift of prophecy simply doesn’t allow for this option.
