I did a lot of stupid things when I was in college. I still do. I also did a lot of things that no doubt made my Savior weep. And I still do. Thus, I can completely identify with the mindset that would motivate a college student--or a person of any age, for that matter--to make a silly video, emulating a popular movement known as the "Harlem Shake."
Yet all this doesn’t diminish the sadness I experienced when I saw a video of students from my alma mater participating in the erotic dance in a very public venue on campus. There was bumping. There was grinding. There was silliness and revelry – all classified by many Christians, no doubt, as simple and innocent fun. (Read more)
Andrews nominated for most vegan-friendly college of 2012
Andrews University is the running for most vegan-friendly college in the U.S. for 2012, a contest being held by Peta. Andrews has made it to the third round, along with seven other colleges and universities. Two rounds remain before the winner is decided.
You can vote by visiting Peta's contest page and clicking on the Andrews icon on the playing field. The description for Andrews says:
This flagship university of the Seventh-Day Adventist school system proudly serves up more than 3,000 all-vegetarian meals each day. In one week, it reportedly uses more than 300 lbs. of tofu and 400 lbs. of dry beans! Some of its delicious options include crispy tofu marinara, vegan cashew meatballs, and zesty key lime pie.
According to Peta, round three ends 5 p.m. ET on October 30. Winners will be announced November 15:
