The seminar here announced, “Religious Liberty and the 2020 Election” will go forward, but with some changes to the schedule of which we were made aware last evening.
Unfortunately, Pastor Andy Im, religious liberty director for the Michigan Conference, and his wife Laura, former religious liberty director of the Conference, will not be participating as planned. One of Laura’s co-workers at the Michigan Conference has tested positive for Covid-19; thus Andy and Laura are forced to quarantine for the next 14 days. The Michiana Fil-Am Church plans to reschedule their appointment at some time in the near future.
Accordingly, the Friday night meeting (Oct. 30) has been cancelled, and Dr. Nicholas Miller, professor of church history at the SDA Theological Seminary and religious liberty director of the Lake Union Conference, will speak for the divine hour at the Michiana Fil-Am Church on Sabbath morning, Oct. 31..
Pastor Kevin Paulson will speak as scheduled at 2 p.m. at the Fil-Am Church on the subject, “Godly Citizenship.” The panel discussion and live Q&A will also take place as scheduled, though Andy and Laura cannot be present. Pastor Paulson and Professors Nicholas Miller and Anthony Bosman (the latter serving as a teacher at Andrews University) will participate as panelists and entertain live questions, either via e-mail or in peron.
The schedule of meetings, accordingly, will proceed as follows:
Sabbath morning, 11:30 a.m: Dr. Nicholas Miller
Sabbath afternoon, 2 p.m: Kevin Paulson: “Godly Citizenship”
Sabbath afternoon: 3 p.m. Panel discussion, live questions and answers
Those wishing to tune in to the meetings through live-streaming may do so at the following link: https://youtu.be/c8TGwT7Fw8Y This link will function for all the scheduled meetings. Those wishing to submit questions to the panelists via e-mail may do so at <ask@michianafilam.org> Those present at the meetings may submit questions either verbally, via e-mail, or through other written means.
The Michiana Fil-Am Seventh-day Adventist Church is located at 8454 Kephart Lane, Berrien Springs, Michigan, 49103. Please plan to attend in person if you are close by, or by live-streaming if necessary. Please pray for the health and safety of Pastor Andy Im, his wife Laura, and their two daughters, and for the success of these meetings as Election Day approaches here in the United States.
