Morning stars, their anthems raising
Hearken to its joyful sound
Sinless worlds, their Sovereign praising
To its wondrous notes resound.
At its peal the hosts of splendor
Range themselves before the throne
Hymns of love their voices render
Homage due to God alone.
Now as shepherds watch unsleeping
Flocks and herds reposed about
On the hills their vigil keeping
Cherished hopes repressing doubt,
All at once its blast resounding
Wakes the voice of hill and plain
Notes of grace and peace abounding
Thrilling hearts with every strain.
Heralding the promised Savior
Born to seek and save the lost
Cheering souls with heaven’s favor
Purchased with eternal cost.
Since the first divine creation
Long ago in eons past
Till the consummate salvation
When rebellion breathes its last,
On beyond, through dateless ages,
Sinless hosts will seek its sound
Ceaseless joy in endless stages
Love unending all around.
